PHNOM PENH: The President of the Cambodia-Japan Association pledged to continue to strengthen and expand cooperation, support the priority plan of the Ministry of Health, and help expand the scope of Cambodia-Japan bilateral cooperation in the field of health by furthering efforts to encourage the Japan Business Association to cooperate and enhance working relations with stakeholders of both countries.
Fumiaki Takahashi, former Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia and President of the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA), made the remarks during a meeting with Health Minister Chheang Rana on September 15 at the Ministry of Health.
During the meeting, he stated that in recent years, Cambodia has achieved peace, political stability and rapid and sustainable economic growth, and the Cambodian-Japanese Association has been actively involved in facilitating the leadership of Japanese companies to invest in Cambodia, including small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) that are interested in two main sectors.
He added that the two main sectors include the production of processed goods using Cambodian raw materials and Japanese advanced technology to produce finished products for export, and vocational training with a focus on hospitality, vehicle mechanics, decoration and beauty services, elderly patient care, and IT skills.
Minister of Health Chheang Ra welcomed and thanked Fumiaki Takahashi, who has always supported the development of Cambodia in all areas, especially the health sector through financing a health care system assistance framework for technical cooperation and granting funding to the health sector in the past.
Chheang Ra encouraged the Cambodian-Japanese Association to continue to cooperate to attract more Japanese investors from the private sector and other charitable organizations to invest, as well as to cooperate in the development of the health sector, including the development of human resources, the quality of health services and the development of health facilities to contribute to the efforts of the Ministry of Health of Cambodia to promote the well-being of the Cambodian people towards achieving universal health coverage.
